supporting fair and equal access to vaccines, and curbing the spread of the virus by donating protective gear and other
supplies to clinics and hospitals that are under strain. Learn what your club can do to help by visiting our COVID-19 information page

Peter Valentine
Valetines Furniture
Peter Valentine is the director of Valentine Antique Gallery in View St Bendigo
He is the third generation of Valentine in the furniture and Antique business since Fred Valentine commenced the business in 1947
Fred had been in farming in the Numurkah district but due to three successive droughts leading up to 1939 then a flood in 1940 he decided to get out of farming.
He originally worked for Fraser furniture store then went out on his own in 1947 with the original store in Queen street.
Peter’s uncle was in to antiques and when Fred retired the store became a mix of new and antique furniture prior to moving into antiques which is a real passion of Peter.
Over the years they have travelled to England purchasing containers full of antiques to bring back to Bendigo.
Peter spoke of his father renting the Hargreaves st store from Mr Favaloro during which time he worked at restoring the building to suit the business of antiques and eventually purchasing the building from MrFavaloro’s family following his death due to a handshake deal done prior and the family honouring it.
Peter’s father was well regarded in the antique auction field selling household lots from properties such as “Rolleston”, “Rosa Smith” in Bendigo and Nuralyn over near Shepparton.
When the Sandhurst Trustee’s building was coming up for sale Peter was asked to value much of the antiques within the building and then purchased it before doing a full reno bringing it back to it former grandeur.
It is now one of the biggest antique and art business in the country supporting up to twenty antique sellers of varying collections and six working artists as well as a coffee shop where you can sit and contemplate your purchases.
Peter is currently the State President foe Antique dealers and Assistant President nationally.
Peter also mentioned that the last Saturday every month they hold a class/open and this month it is based on Porcelain figures. “Go Figure”
Anyone interested in any aspect of the business or classes can look up detail on their website.
It is absolutely fantastic that an historic building such as the Sandhurst Trustee building is again open to anyone to peruse and enjoy.

Jokes

A young man met a cowboy who was 104, still active and in good health. He asked the old-timer what the secret was to his longevity.

The old man said, “You gotta sprinkle a little gunpowder on your porridge every morning, see. If you do that, you’ll live to a nice, ripe old age.”

So the young man did this religiously every day for the rest of his life and, sure enough, lived to the age of 100.

When he died, he left behind six children, 10 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren… and a 16-foot hole in the wall of the crematorium.

You have to love the Irish.  They have just found a tombstone  of what would be their oldest man.  He was 193 and he was Miles  from Dublin.
