Co-Presidents' report
Adrian and I met with all the other Cluster presidents, as well as ADG’s Alison Bacon, of Eaglehawk RC and Rob Foran, of Echuca-Moama RC, last Sunday at the Mechanics Hall, California Gully.
The main items discussed were:
Perhaps clubs could consider joint changeover meetings. The main advantage being a joint celebration of clubs’ achievements and projects, as well as the opportunity for fellowship. Presidents were to run this idea by their membership, and general responses to be an agenda item at the next cluster meeting.
Rotary signage around COGB. The signage around Bendigo is currently not accurate in relation to branding, venues and meeting times. Steps have been taken to address this as soon as possible, as a joint club project.
End Polio Walk. D9800 is conducting a series of walks in our district in October in relation to this. In Bendigo, RC of Bendigo South is coordinating this, with an event likely to be in late October. More information will be forthcoming.
D9800 Conference. Our district conference next year will be held at Ulumbarra Theatre and BSSC gymnasium on April 12, 13 and 14. Eaglehawk RC is the event organizer. John Cannon and John Harkin have kindly offered to organize the Rotary Showcase aspect as our clubs’ main contribution to the event. It seems that in total, around 20 volunteers will be needed each day to run the entire conference. Later this year, our cluster clubs will be asked for members to help out generally.
It was nice to see ADG Alison Bacon on Wednesday. She was present mainly to go over some early planning details for the conference Showcase with John C and John H, and very much enjoyed our meeting, it seems.
DG Visit. Ron Payne and wife Deb are visiting us on Wednesday, 30th this month. It is wonderful to have a local DG, and we look forward to hearing of Ron’s aims for our district in his year.
Funeral of Joan Stevenson. Joan was the much-loved wife of Kevin Stevenson, PHF, one of our charter members, and a current Honorary member. This sad event took place on Friday. Several members, as well as Barbara Cannon,
were there to remember and honour Joan’s contribution to our club, particularly in our earlier days, as well as to offer support to Kevin.

I have a good fridge for them , however they are moving into an unfurnished rental and have no chattels and very little clothing.
I can arrange for pick up as the goods will be required in 2 weeks.

Lightning Reef PS update
At Coles in Central Bendigo, there is a terrific guy called Brendon who is a great friend of Rotary and struggling kids in our community.
If you see Brendon in Coles fruit section, please take a few seconds to shake his hand and say thanks.
Every Monday morning, with a huge smile on his face, Brendon loads up a very generous trolly of fresh fruit for the kids at Lightning Reef.
Coles is often short of staff and Brendon is very busy, but he always has time for the kids.
