President's report

Welcome back everyone, hoping your week was full of fun and good health. Was great to have Rotarians Ken and Frances visiting from Scotland attend our meeting. They are being hosted by the Hinnebergs and given a good tour of the countryside I believe before heading down to the Rotary Convention.
Glenn Maloney informed us the Swap Meet committee now has a new Chairperson, Gary Jones from Kangaroo Flat, to continue this year's catering plan. So, our club will not need to step into this role until next year as previously suggested.
Last Tuesday was Our Board meeting for the month and much discussion was had.

Donations for -The Run for Dad Prostate Cancer Foundation Project.

-The Heathcote Scout Equipment Storage Container.

-Men's Health project in Rochester.

were approved by the board.

Other board papers require further research.

A resignation from Julia Grace was approved and she will continue in the capacity as a Friend of Rotary. We wish her well on the path to continue in good health.
No further donations for Rochester at this stage. But will review in a month. Regular meetings with RAWCS and the cluster continue.
At our Forum this week we heard members highlighting criteria from our district, good to share this information and revisit some ideas and guidelines.
For those attending the Convention a reminder to take your name badges this week and if you are not present let me know and l can collect them.

Brian's Scottish visitors

We were delighted to have Ken and Frances Drummond from Scotland visit our club on Wednesday morning.

They were guests of Brian and Jo Hinneberg.

Brian and Jo had stayed with them in Scotland several years ago on a Rotary friendship exchange, but COVID meant their return visit to Australia had been put on hold.

Fortunately they were able to combine a trip to attend the RI Convention in Melbourne later this week, with a few days in Bendigo.

Brian and Jo took them on an extended sight-seeing tour of Victoria.

Ken (pictured with Pres Judy) spoke about the challenges of running a Rotary club in his area of Scotland.

Importantly, he also explained his pants.

They are the exact tartan of the ancient Drummond clan.

Ken said this is highly appropriate as he, himself, is an ancient Drummond!

Lizzie's flying high

The adventures from last year's Rotary auction night just keep coming.

Lizzie Barrow (pictured below) purchased a flying lesson on the night and was very excited to be able to take to the skies over Bendigo on Thursday.

Thanks to John Cannon for arranging the flight.

The auction night was a fundraiser for Rotary Foundation and many weird and wonderful items were auctioned off. (Great work Dougie).

Thanks again to Adrian and his team for organising the night.

It must be time for another one!

Maurice Woodburn has organised a Bendigo SANDHURST conference club dinner to be on Saturday 27^th May

The venue is called “Olive Tree Restaurant at 19 Park Street, South Melbourne At 6pm.
