The new Bendigo court building
Michael Conroy, Court Services Victoria-Bendigo, and Mick Carroll, Director Projects-Major Projects Division-Court Services Victoria provided an update of the plans for the new court in Bendigo. There are 70 courts in Victoria. The current building is outdated and not suitable for its contemporary purpose. The new building will be located at the corner of Mundy and Hargreaves Streets and will cost more than 150 million dollars. It will have 8 court rooms, 2 hearing rooms, 2 mediation suites, 16 cells in the basement, and separate entries and walkways for the different groups having to navigate their way through the building. Security has been a top priority in the design of the building. Video links to other courts in Victoria will reduce expensive transport costs. Building will commence in March 2021 and will be ready at the end of 2022. The building is the first in Victoria to be carbon neutral.

From the Rotary Club of Bendigo South

One of our club members has a great relationship with Stephanie Woollard the founder of Seven Women. Stephanie has been engaged to speak here in Bendigo at a district conference that is scheduled one week prior to the 9800 event. She has also offered to provide an evening for us during her time back in Australia. We were able to book an available date at the Star Cinema for Wednesday March 11. It is not actually our club’s meeting night but as we are always very flexible to accommodate opportunities, we do never hesitate to change a meeting night if there is something worthwhile on offer. I would encourage you all to consider offering this event to all your members and also to think about people who you may know outside Rotary who would be interested in learning all about the great journey Stephanie Woollard has been on and where she will go into the future. For further information re Seven Women I would encourage you all to go onto the website listed on this attached flyer. Also happy to take calls on 0408590589 or respond to your emails if requiring further information.

Jokes
A father took his young son to the opera for the first time. The conductor started waving the baton, and the soprano began her aria.
The boy watched everything intently and finally asked: “Why is he hitting her with his stick?”
“He’s not hitting her,” answered the father with a chuckle.

“Well, then,” asked the boy. “Why is she screaming?”
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

One night, a lady stumbled into the police station with a black eye. She claimed she had heard a noise in her back yard and gone out to investigate.

Then, the next thing she knew, she was hit in the eye and knocked out cold.

An officer was sent to her house to investigate, and he returned an hour later with a black eye.

“Did you get hit by the same person?” his captain asked.

“No,” he replied. “I stepped on the same rake.”
