Industry Visit- Crusoe Reservoir (Wednesday March 22nd 8AM)
This Industry visit follows the interest of members in the history of the supply of water to Bendigo. Some little while ago we had Geoff Russell, the author of "Water for Gold", as our guest. This was followed by a car rally which stopped off at various points of interest along the Coliban Channel. Members will be guided around points of interest by Ranger, Blair Venn, from 8AM until 9AM. Crusoe Reservoir is in Crusoe Road, Kangaroo Flat, on the left coming from Bendigo towards the end of the built up area. There should be sufficient parking in the carpark, however depending on numbers some members may need to park on Crusoe Road.
Members are advised to wear sturdy shoes as we will be walking on some uneven ground. All participants are invited to return to the restaurant section of PepperGreen Farm around 9.30AM for breakfast. Please contact Jim Rolfe (0407554263) if you have any queries.
President's report
Welcome everyone
Here we are, March is already marching on. And another enjoyable week at our new venue.
Roxanne Lyon, from Anglicare gave a heartfelt thank you to us for the support to the foster care Christmas party. She presented us with a certificate and some delicious “Thank You” biscuits.
Pete Rainey gave a good review and evaluation of Australia Day Event. Thanks, Pete, for all your many hours of work leading up to this and collating the results afterwards. Take care whilst recovering and our condolences are with you.
To the rest of the team, Ted, Rob and Kev much appreciated the amount of time spent making this a very successful day for the club.
Our February Board meeting was on Tuesday. Many topics were covered, and a full report to be discussed at our Forum Meeting.
Congratulations to Madeleine Schoo for stepping into the Treasurer’s role and ongoing thanks again to Peter for continuing to keep us on track and assisting Madeleine in her new shoes.
Thanks to Bendigo Rotary for the Bowls night fundraiser for Operation Cleft. The reports were a lot of fun even though no cup was brought home.
Please check when your WWC card needs updating. This can be done on your Service Victoria App it takes 7 minutes. We still have some members who have not completed our Rotary page, this is a mandatory requirement. I have these at the meeting.
Chris will be taking orders for uniforms before the winter blast, so have a think and let him know on Weds.
Rochester is requiring helpers for some gardening duties for the town's residents. Dates to be advised.
Also, some assistance to collect items from Donations in Kind either a Tuesday or Thursday. Dates to be advised. If you can spend some time this would be very much appreciated.
Every day is meant to be enjoyed a little, giving is more rewarding than receiving.
Roxanne Lyon from Anglicare came in to thank the Club for our support of their Foster-carers Christmas Party.
The BBQ was a big hit, as was the appearance of a Santa, who shall remain nameless (Rob).
It was a fun night and our efforts meant that the organisers were able to focus on their duties. Roxanne explained that they currently have 80 foster carers in the Loddon-Campaspe, greater Bendigo region and are always looking for more to step up.
She also presented us with a Certificate of Appreciation, and some tasty biscuits. We thank her for her address and wish her well in her very important work.
