Hi Everyone,
We welcomed AG for Goldfields North Greg Noonan. Greg spoke about some of DG Murray Verso’s goals for the year and he encouraged members to attend the District Conference in Hobart next year. The District Directory will be ready in 2 weeks.
A get well message goes out to Phil Harris and Sally Fraser is home.
Our sympathies go out to Colin Hutchison following the death of his mother in a car accident last week. Colin has attended quite a few of our meetings doing a make-up.
Thanks to Graeme & Merrin Lynas and  Barb Mitchell for being part of the catering team to provide lunch and morning tea to the District Leadership Team at Camp Get-away on Sunday.
John Cannon and Ray Carrington have volunteered to help Bendigo South organise the cluster meeting in November. Thanks John and Ray.
Paul Kirkpatrick and Kevin Reade were our guest speakers today to provide feedback about the RI Convention in Sydney.
Sounds like they had an amazing time. Kevin was in BBQ heaven on the first day when 40 clubs provided a sausage sizzle for the delegates!
A range of very good speakers kept the 18,000 participants enthralled and the entertainment provided during the opening ceremony was excellent – Human Nature, Ten Tenors, Marina Prior to name just a few.
A World Record Bridge climb was achieved and the owner of the climb (Paul Cave) donated $40,000 to the Rotary Polio eradication program.
Rotary Down Under has a good synopsis of the convention.
Paul and Kevin have come back with some good ideas, so catch up with them to have a chat.
The convention is in Brazil next year.
Have a great week everyone.
Cheers, Cathie
Coming event: Federation picnic Sunday 31st August 2014. Marong Trotting centre. (8am to 3pm)

Thanks to Ray Carrington for supplying transport for Rotarian Rob Guley

This Saturday 19th we are standing up with the Mayor and Councillors for, 'Racism stops with me' 10.30am to 11.30am in the Hargreaves Mall. We will conduct a free sausage sizzle.

My experiment with the roster is over, apparently setting up a projector, computer and club banner is too much for one, so two for set up is back.

Why do supermarkets make the sick walk all the way to the  back  of the store to get their prescriptions while  healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet  coke.

Why do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the  counters.
Why do we leave cars  worth thousands of pounds in our driveways and put our useless junk in the garage.
EVER WONDER  ...
Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why can't women put on mascara with their  mouth closed?
Why don't you  ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?
Why is  'abbreviated' such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?
Why is lemon  juice made with artificial flavouring, and dishwashing liquid made with  real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time  of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If flying  is so safe, why do they  call the airport the terminal?
