President's report
Some very active events this week again. Trivia night was a great social activity, enjoyed by all who went.
The BBQ at the station for Groovin the Moo was once again a great success, the young crowd was keen to try snags. And a good fellowship was shared amongst the team. Too many cooks did not spoil the brew!

District Assembly is on Sunday, and we wish Adrian an interesting day. A bus has been organized to take the Cluster team down.
Good luck to John Cannon as he is having surgery in Melbourne this week, so will be seeing him on Zoom for a while.
An update from Carol Guley to say Rob is still in St Vincents, and a few issues have developed, so his health is taking some time to return.
Radio session on Phoenix again this Wednesday at 9.15am. Castlemaine and our club will be interviewed.
Reminder to stay well and have your vaccinations if they are due.

Trivia night
The recent Rotary Trivia Night organised by Bendigo South and Eaglehawk clubs was a great success.
Despite the best efforts of the Bendigo Sandhurst brainboxes (pictured right) and some astounding dancing skills, we did not win.
We was robbed!
Still, the night was very social - we all had a lot of fun and helped raise some funds for Rotary.

RCoBS member Brian Hinneberg has kindly offered to take interested club members on a special photographic tour of Bendigo.
Anyone who has seen Brian's photos will know that he has a real talent for capturing unique images.
He will not teach you how to use your camera (that's on you!), but he will show you how to look at people and places with a new perspective.
Guest speaker: Colin Lambie Bendigo Sustainability
Colin Lambie (pictured with Stew) is an inaugural member of the Bendigo Sustainability Group which was set up in 2007. Since that time the group has been influential in establishing the Farmer's Market, Boomerang Bags, the Repair Cafe and the Family Nature Club. Colin is an Electrical Engineer and hence he has a particular interest in solar energy. He noted that the production of electricity is a major contributor to greenhouse gases. The Bendigo Sustainability House Day was set up in 2013. This is an initiative to raise awareness about good building design for energy saving.
The Bendigo Sustainability Festival was held in March this year in the Bendigo Garden of the Future which is part of the Botanic Gardens in White Hills. This provides an opportunity to promote the importance of energy saving, recycling and repurposing. The group played a big part in making sure that solar panels were installed in the Bendigo Library. This proved to be a critical turning point in raising awareness about the importance of solar energy in Bendigo's civic buildings. The Eaglehawk Badminton Club and the Tram Depot are two other examples.
Colin outlined how the group has partnered with Bendigo Health to procure funding for the installation of solar panels in social housing developments. This has especially benefited the Karen community and has involved grant applications, crowd funding and project management. It was wonderful to hear that the group has played a big part in the installation of solar panels at PepperGreen Farm. The group has been able to set up a Revolving Energy Fund which provides interest free loans to not for profit organisations.
It was reassuring for members to know that the Club is partnering with such a dynamic organisation as the Bendigo Sustainability Group. Colin mentioned that "Chuffed", a global social justice crowd funding platform, has been engaged to help with fundraising. It was wonderful to experience Colin's passion and we thank him for his outstanding contribution in raising community awareness about the importance of sustainable practices.
Melbourne International Convention - Club dinner
Maurice Woodburn has organised a Bendigo SANDHURST conference club dinner to be on Saturday 27th May
The venue is called “Olive Tree Restaurant at 19 Park Street, South Melbourne At 6pm.
