President's report
Welcome
  • Another big week, starting off with a BBQ for the Chinese Lunar New Year on Saturday 21st. All reports were a lot of fun.
  • Tuesday held our weekly Cluster Zoom meeting. Heather gave us a progress report. They held a successful Men's Wellbeing night, where 55 attended, some guest speakers updated the situation and vouchers from local businesses were distributed.
  • Wow what a big one, Australia Day was! Such a mammoth event led by Peter Rainey and his crew of Wardens Ted, Doug, Maurice, Graeme and Geoff and Linda as MC.
  • But thanks to all the teams, that made it so successful. Ted and Robbie with the markets, Kev with the BBQ, Graeme for the Safety and Family areas, Doug and Maurice for their general ‘roving ‘, Geoff for the main stage activity and Linda for a great MC presentation all day. Not forgetting the info tent John H, Toni and their team. Madeline stepped up in her first role and managed the lost and found.
  • It takes a whole club to make it work, so an extra thanks to all the members, family and friends who participated.
  • Last but not least our new event of the Show and Shine display of the trikes was very popular all day. A big thank you to John Cannon for arranging it and winning one of the prizes.
ATTENTION
We have our hands on, For A Meal Cluster Event on Saturday 4th February at 11am.  This project will be attended by our DG Amanda. It consists of making up small packs of food for the homeless and overseas projects. All ingredients and equipment will be coming from RC Balwyn.
So, we just need many hands to pack. The trylink is enclosed or you can contact me. I will need final numbers by Wednesday, please give this some consideration.
  • Maurice is arranging a club dinner for the Convention in May, can those attending please notify him if interested so he can book.
  • See Bowling night fundraiser for Operation Cleft (flyer below)! It would be great if we could enter a team.
Take care and enjoy the week.

President Judy.

What a great day we had at Lake Weeroona for Australia Day!

A huge well done to everyone who was involved.
Flying high
Another big adventure occurred recently as a result of our club's successful  fundraising auction last year.
Brave souls Barb and Glenys took to the skies with pilot Danny for a joyflight over Bendigo.
Their flights were donated by Danny and purchased by the ladies on the night.
Thanks very much to Danny for donating the experience - it was very much enjoyed and appreciated.

Pictured are Glenny (in the plane) while Barb and Danny say their pre-flight prayers!
Chinese lunar new year
A small but enthusiastic group of Rotarians manned the BBQ for the Lunar New Year celebrations at the Chinese Museum last Saturday night.
Rotarian (and Bendigo Chinese Association President) Doug Lougoon had organised a great evening of entertainment.
A host of colourful dragons, loud firecrackers, music, dancing and a happy crowd made for a great night.
Of course, the Rotary sausages and vegie burgers (with or without onion!) were very popular with the people and one hungry puppy dog.
