Meetings

There will be a short meeting to discuss the loading of the containers for Timor Leste after breakfast (8.45am) this Wednesday at the Bridge.
An Australia Day debrief will be held with CoGB at Myers St. at 10.00am, this Wednesday

Last week in Rotary

Thanks to Jim as he took the chair in the breakfast dining room at the Shamrock. Our guests were Jill and Pete from Bendigo Walking Tours.

After breakfast we split up into two groups are were treated to a brief history of some of the buildings and people who made Bendigo famous.

Thanks Jill and Pete for a great introduction to the tour. As we are hosting an inbound RFE team from Canada in March, there was a collective agreement to book a tour on Tuesday March 26^th at 9.30am

Visiting, new to Bendigo or a long-time local - enjoy an upbeat, informal guided walk in this extraordinary city.

Tours run daily and start at the Conservatory in Pall Mall, approx.100 metres or a one-minute walk from the Visitors Information Centre and move through the former Government Camp finishing at the top of View St next to the Bendigo Art Gallery.

This easy walk covers less than a kilometer with access to toilets & drinking fountains.

The tour is accessible for those using a wheelchair or mobility aid.

V-Line BBQ breakfast

With a 4.30am start, the hardy and the brave had set up for the cooked egg and bacon roll at the Bendigo station on Tuesday morning. At best count over 300 rolls were served, however at times there were frantic calls “where are the eggs”, and “only had one job to do!!!”

Thanks again to Kev and Bruce for their great organisation and everyone who turned up to help, cook, serve or just have a chat. Special thanks to Maurice for his “expertise” in getting things organised and on track.

Golf Night

The annual RC Bendigo night golf is on again, Friday Feb 15^th. The club will support a team and it looks like at this stage Paul, Nick and Glenn are starters to get a team ready. Doug is also organising a team for the “Rising Sun”, so there will be plenty of opportunities for those who wish to play.

Numbers will be finalised this week.

Raffle

Mark Weragoda has provided the club from RC Flemington Kensington Inc. with raffle tickets to support the Past District Governor Vance Hilton Memorial Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Victoria. I have tickets on hand if you wish to support.

A tale of two spoons

On a fine and sunny day, two spoons, called Oneida 1 & 2, went on a journey to Briar Hill for the Christmas lunch. Unfortunately they were left behind and are now missing their friends in the cutlery drawer at home. They have been to several Rotary meetings, but alas no one has yet claimed them.
